PT-109
Mitch placed The Senators on hiatus in 1981 in order to play in another band made up entirely of real people. The key sonic ingredient of PT-109 was the use of lead-trumpet instead of lead-guitar. The line-up consisted of Mitchell Dancik on guitars and vocals, Steve Korff (the original drummer of The Planets, who played the same NYC circuit as Just Water) on drums, Manny Manhattan on trumpet, and Joe Brooklyn on bass.
Producer/engineer David Bailes helped PT-109 record the tracks that are available from this web-site. Dave snuck us into the studios he worked in, and as the saying goes “did it all for the love of rock n’ roll”.
PT-109 broke up as soon as the money ran out, which was very soon.
Nothing was officially released back in 1980’s, but you can hear three PT-109 songs on the compilation “The Senate, The House, & 125th Street” on this site. One of their unrecorded songs from 1981 was “Doctor Boy”, which was recorded by Mitchell Dancik & The Senators in 2009 and is available on the Song Of The Month page of this site.
